July 2018 – Welcome to FEA 2018

I hope you are all enjoying your summer vacation. As your new FEA President, I would like to thank you for your support in the election. I was humbled by the overwhelming majority with which I won, and I am ready to continue to serve as a leader for the best interests of the membership.

As you can imagine, I have been very busy trying to transition myself into the new role with the help and support from members of the Executive Board and our MTA Representative, Mike Shannon. We have been very busy with our new Superintendent, Dr. Lori Duerr and our Human Resources Director, Joany Santa, who has been here less than a year herself. Presently, we have not met with Dr. Sonia Tellier, Assistant Superintendent, as we have  been addressing issues that have not directly involved her. Those issues involve current grievances, interpretation(s) of contract language, SEI endorsement requirements, and the “blue letters” (some were white) that Units A,B and D were directed to sign on the last day of school. There will be more information coming on these issues!

I have learned that the K-6 Director of Curriculum and Instruction position formerly held by Zachary Waddicor will not be filled, and the newly appointed interim Director of Pupil Personnel Services, Joan Woodward, will not be starting in Falmouth until August 1, 2018. With that being said, I am still working with Dr. Duerr and administrative staff on the schedule for August 28-30, 2018. I will keep you up to date as things become firm.

Please take the time to thank your fellow FEA members who have been elected and/or appointed to support and represent you!

If if you are interested in filling a vacancy, please contact me directly.

I am securing a list of members and vacancies that are on current FEA Committees and will get that to you as soon as possible.

EBoard Members are streamlining email addresses. In light of that, my email address is: president2018.fea@gmail.com

Please make sure to use personal email addresses for FEA business.

Again, thank you for your support.

Respectfully, Lori
